WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, Speaker Mike Johnson hosted Their Majesties King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan for a visit at the United States Capitol.
Joining the meeting were Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah, Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Jafar Hassan, Director of His Majesty’s Office, and Mrs. Dina Kawar, Jordanian Ambassador to the U.S.
Speaker Johnson released the following statement after their meeting:
“It was a privilege to welcome His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and the Crown Prince to the Capitol. For 75 years, the United States and Jordan have enjoyed a strong friendship and spirit of cooperation. Our relationship has proven beneficial for the entire Middle East and the unique challenges we face as we move into the future.
“We discussed our shared desire for safety and prosperity in the region, and I thanked King Abdullah II for his efforts to promote peace. We are grateful for this bond and will continue to discuss ways in which the U.S. and Jordan can strengthen our alliance.”
